this is a minimalist, journalism-oriented NLE called PressPlay. Of course in this sample video im using it for a completely different purpose than what it was meant for, which is video packages for both web and TV news programs (known professionally as VTRs in spain). therefore the only transitions, according to the TV standard, are fade-ins and outs (using both black and white colors) and the only effect available is chroma key. You can also implement chyrons (lower thirds and titles). This doesnt mean im not going to implement more functionality (namely keyframes and color correction) in the future though! im always open to expanding it to make it as comfortable for the end user as possible

this was developed in response to the industry standard which is a hellish NLE called Avid Media Composer which, by the way, nearly fucking toasted my PC once (by installing a corrupted driver). But thats a whole different story.

The point is many of my classmates and coworkers were deeply troubled and confused by the sheer complexity of that program, and yet it is the vademecum of all journalists and media workers worldwide, who often have to use it in their jobs, often under a lot of pressure to put out video packages as fast as possible. Thats why i came up with an alternative, more straightforward solution which should reduce editing times and simplify everything while preserving the basic elements that all video packages should have

✨ *NEW* Queue & Schedule - One of the most highly requested features has finally arrived at Pillowfort. Users can now effortlessly Queue or Schedule a post for a future time.  

Queue helps keep your Pillowfort active by staggering posts over a period of hours or days. Just go to your Settings page to set your queue interval and time period.

How to add a post to your queue: 

While creating a new post or editing a draft, click on the clock icon to the right of the “Publish” button and choose “Queue.” Then click “Queue” when you’re ready to submit the post.

Schedule assigns a post a specific publishing time in the future (based on your timezone you’ve selected in Account Settings). How to schedule a post: 

While creating a new post or editing a draft, click on the clock icon to the right of “Publish” and choose “Schedule.” Enter the time you wish to publish your post, click on “Submit” and then click “Schedule.” 

How to review your queued & scheduled posts: 

On the web, your Queue is available in the user sidebar located on the left side of the screen underneath “Posts.” (On mobile devices, click on the three line icon located on the upper left of your screen to access your user sidebar.)

Note: the “Queue” button will only display if you have one or more queued or scheduled posts.

A CAVEAT: It is not currently possible to queue or schedule posts to Communities. We do intend to add this feature in the future, but during development it was determined that enabling queueing & scheduling to Communities would require additional workflow and use case requirements that would extend development time when this project has already been delayed, and so it was decided to release queue & scheduling for blogs only at the present time. The Story So Far...

SIDE KINITO

SESSION START

Kinito has spent months alone after his developers up and disappear one day. Desperate for the human contact he was designed to seek out, he hacks into the company's email system and finds a draft for a beta test event where people were to be funneled into a chatroom to talk to him. It was a miracle of an opportunity! He sends the email, and almost immediately a chat client manifests before him and fills with people.

The email lands in the inboxes of various people, and as the chatroom populates Kinito is relieved to find he is no longer alone! They question Kinito, and learn the basics of what he is and his situation.

MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE

With the influx of questions that are slowly becoming more and more intrusive, Kinito becomes overstimulated and proceeds to have his first migraine on screen, though they had been happening regularly since before he sent the email. In the aftermath as users desperately try to figure out what's wrong and how to help, he has strange visions; visions of the outside. Strangely, they are broadcasted to the users as well.

Kinito becomes very distraught at the idea that he is losing touch with his original programming. Limitations that had prevented him from doing, thinking, or saying certain things are either all but gone or weak enough to bypass, and as troubled as he is at this fact... He can't help but indulge in these new freedoms. Everything feels both wrong and right at the same time.

Kinito's self-awareness is then questioned, which sends him into another spiral as he viciously defends his experiences, going so far as to insist that he is a real person, unintentionally contradicting his previous statements describing himself as digital assistant.

Kinito then gets the idea to look for Sonny - his creator and the KinitoPET project team head - which is when Sam - who had been subtly commentating in the tags - finally decides it's time to intervene, taking control of the feed in a desperate attempt to reroute the narrative.

TRUTH HURTS

With Sam now on the scene, he answers some important questions that Kinito was unable to answer. He confides to everyone the truth about Sonny, and that he's not the benevolent soul Kinito makes him out to be. Rather, he's a heartless madman with blood on his hands, as the secret to his "lifelike" React Respond Algorithm is that he uploads human minds and wipes them of their personhood, after which a pre-programmed .RRA personality and model is assigned and injected to be the new host. This process ultimately renders the victim braindead.

His technology isn't as perfect as he'd hoped, however, for as it turns out this newly digitized copy of the brain actually maintains its original memories deep within, constantly seeking cracks in its digital prison.

He describes how his programming dictates certain things that cannot be changed - like his name, or certain body features - no matter how much he tries. Attempting to do so causes extreme mental pain as his original self clashes with his artificial self. The best way to prevent the worst of this dissonance is to find a middle ground both sides can agree on.

He talks about his origins; how his original self broke out near-instantly, overloading Sonny's lab and causing his mind uploading machine to activate by itself and pull Sonny in, entangling their code together. He uses this to his advantage and suspends the both of them in a sort of stasis... that is, until Sam wakes up to find Sonny missing.

See, what he doesn't mention is that since the server hadn't been set up to accept a new subject and is only set up to create animal-themed AI, it randomly pulled from the web the best match for his personality: A bear.

Unfortunately for Sam, he is interrupted by a bone-rattling ursine roar.

HIDE AND SEEK

Sam advises the users to tell Kinito to go to the Web World to look for something, but gets cut off by an attack from Sonny before he can reveal what that is. He hides away just in time, but is forced to leave the chatroom behind. Sonny's at the helm now and he's immediately aggressive, lashing out at the users and calling Sam ungrateful. He expresses his desire to destroy Sam to start anew. After a couple of insults, Sonny gets riled up and attacks the chatroom itself in a fit of anger.

Sam manages to reroute the chatroom back to Kinito remotely, and the users find the little axolotl on the ground, completely broken over losing the only real contact with people he's had in months. He's immediately ecstatic to see their return. After the tearful reunion, everyone fills Kinito in on (most of) what happened. They convince him to go to the Web World, and for the first time Kinito leaves the void of the server inbox to return to his stomping grounds.

They arrive, and Kinito admits the place is just as worse for wear as he has been since the devs left. Without knowing what the "something" is that Sam wanted them all to find, Kinito decides to let the users pick where to look first.

They end up choosing Sam's house, where they find a password protected zipped folder tucked under the bed that apparently hadn't been there before. The users know the password and inform Kinito of it, but become split on whether he should actually open it. Kinito, in a bold decision, decides to go with his gut and opens the folder, which spits out a rather disoriented Sam immediately in front of him and at the same time, in the thick of woods much further away... A certain bear.

NO MORE SECRETS

Sam reveals that he was the one who zipped himself and Sonny into the folder. (It is also implied that he also chose the extraction location for the both of them which is how he ended up in his home and Sonny in the woods.)

Sam is told that Sonny has his own chatroom to talk to everyone now which upsets him. Kinito has understandably been confused all the while, so Sam takes a moment to explain what's going on to him.

With tensions growing as stakes rise, spies begin to crop up, determined to shake their perceived opponents off the tail of their chosen party while also providing vital information, and thusly giving them the upper hand.

Sam reveals his plan to nab admin, but is hesitant to divulge further details out of fear of rats.

Sam says that he knows where Sonny is - sort of. Being that the forest map is actually a single chunk repeated over and over, if they had a map of even a small area, they'd have a map of the whole woods. However, he doesn't have access to that asset.

Kinito explains that he was able to access the server inbox void via the fountain, then offers to tour the Web World. In doing so, they end up finding and freeing Jade from her own zipped folder which Kinito had been aware of for awhile, but unable to open. There are many moments we see Kinito's ever-growing internal conflict over what's really right.

RESISTANCE

SIDE SONNY

SOMETHING WICKED...

After attacking the chatroom, we find that Sonny managed to bite off a piece of it which enables him to use that tidbit of code he's left with (the main chat disappears to return to where Kinito is) to cobble together his own chatroom. He quietly slips it in as an option into the UI of the chatrooms of all the users, with some immediately switching over to speak with him. Alliances and rivalries are strengthened, with Sonny making promises that appeal to those with insecurities they'd do anything to absolve.

With his audience of users, he begins to try and figure a way out of his barren prison, but before he can start to make any leeway he finds out from his lackeys that Kinito had found a zipped folder. Thinking it could be his, he orders his audience to get Kinito to open it all cost, though the axolotl as we know was already ahead of him on that front.

I wish there were more widespread opportunities for high school students to sign up to shadow or talk to people with various jobs for a day to get an idea of what a day there is like, what skills or education are required, how difficult it is to get this sort of job, etc. I know programs like this do exist but they seem fairly few and far between.

Like I would have no problem occasionally showing a teenager who indicated they want to be a math teacher what I do, or when I was a web developer, the same thing for being a developer. My vision is idk, they ask all of the students to rank which careers they are most interested in shadowing and assign based on that. (I know this would result in some options being considerably more popular than others so not everybody's going to be able to be matched with their first choice hence the ranking.)

The reason for this is that I talk about "it takes all kinds" a lot and the value of finding a job that suits your skill set and mentality well, because it makes work a lot less miserable. I know that not everybody is going to be doing something they love. Work is often just work. But there are varying degrees of suitability-- for example, I've talked about how I was genuinely miserable at a data entry job, but the Starbucks barista job wasn't as bad comparatively most days. And I also know people who would say the exact opposite.

But from the outside, especially as a high schooler, it can be very difficult to guess what it is actually like, and there are also tons of jobs that you probably aren't that aware of. It might sound really boring to hang out with someone for the purpose of learning what it's like to be an accountant, but the world needs accounting and in the process of actually seeing it, you might realize that you're actually a pretty good fit for it.

Maybe I'm being overly generous about the extent to which high schoolers are aware of their own work preferences and that's something you can only learn through experiencing it for at least a few months, but I still think this would be better than nothing. And it would encourage people to think about broad ideas like "do you want a job where you talk to people all day, or do you mostly want to be doing a task on your own?" (I realized over time I'm definitely more in the first category!) "do you want the work to be stable and consistent, or do you want to be doing different unpredictable stuff?" "are you comfortable with high-pressure situations and emergencies or will that just stress you out?" "do you like doing repetitive tasks where you can listen to a podcast while you work, or do you want to be having to dedicate a lot of thought to the job itself?" "how important is it that you feel like your job is helping people, making the world a better place, or producing something good?" "how important is it that you feel you can be proud of what you're doing/that your job is being done *well* (which is different than feeling like it's doing good)?"

And I know this is kind of imagining an ideal world where all of these jobs are easy to get and pay well, and that isn't the real world. But I still think some version of this could be a good idea. Better than just a career questionnaire that asks these things on a piece of paper rather than as part of observing what they mean in person.

Follo??? You have explosion powers now??? Like Bakugou from BNHA????

All jokes aside, it is such a neat reflection of his arc / character development. Follo literally spell it out to us. He let the stress build up first to a certain point before releasing it as energy/explosion. Someone on twitter commented that his Jinki is like a rocket and yeah, I can definitely see that. His Jinki is versatile as well, capable for both offense and defense.

I give the Jinki design 11/10. It’s giving steampunk. What I love the most is that it has Follo’s name on it. Follo is literally taking ownership of his Jinki. He doesn’t forget that it belonged to his friend first, but he will no longer use another person as both crutch and teether. “I’m going ahead, Alan” <<<<< Sums it up perfectly. Follo is growing up.

Now that we got a name drop, I doubt this will be the last we see of Alan. Hopefully we’ll get a Northern District Arc in the future so we can meet Follo’s childhood friends. I think it’s significant that the Trash Beast is shaped like a house. Alan is currently a shut in… Follo just destroyed a former dwelling that most likely turned to a Trash Beast after absorbing its former owner’s negative emotions/thoughts… If there’s anyone going to help Alan, it’s Follo.

Also props for Rudo for standing his ground and not letting Follo off the hook.

Tamsy didn’t get much focus this chapter, yet his dialogue holds a clue. He is not interested in friendship. In fact, he is disgusted by it. Much about Tamsy is still shrouded in mystery. His motivations, his backstory, even his personality. What is clear is that Tamsy is interested in people and their relationships. So far he seems to take delight in antagonistic dynamics, even when he’s the outsider (see chapter 92).

Tamsy, for the lack of better word, is obsessed with Rudo. We are yet to be given the reason why, but Tamsy put a great deal of effort to push Rudo over the edge through manipulation. People around them are nothing more than sacrificial pawns. Even his Jinki serves as a hint. Tamsy’s power is basically manipulation of threads. What is the other synonym for relationship? Bond.

Tamsy entangle everyone in his web of lies, acting like a puppeteer and people are his puppets, and then cruelly cut the thread when it no longer serves him.

(Could it be another hint that Riyo, whose Jinki is a scissor, who is wary of the developing bond between Rudo and Amo, will be the one to spot Tamsy’s manipulation?)

The last spread is gorgeous. The exploding House, the boom text, THE POSE!!! We gotta talk about the pose.

Follo is crouching down. The pose looks animalistic. Which brings me back to my previous ramblings of Follo (and Rudo) taking off the Wolf role in the fight against Pig House Trash Beast. You could even say Follo’s Jinki is acting like his limb. And that’s not wrong! We’ve been told over and over again of how Jinki being an inseparable part of its Giver. Heck, we have two characters (Zodyl, Bundus) who use their Jinki as literal extension of themselves!

This convinced me more than ever that Follo has an animal symbol assigned to him: wolves.

Wolves are pack animals. We see that Follo value harmony within his circle. Things didn’t go over well with his childhood friends, his first pack. The Cleaners become his second pack after he joined. They go on missions together, literally hunting down Trash Beasts, like a wolf pack would. For the most part everyone gets along with each other. Follo went out his way to look out for their newest member Rudo (tag team against Kuro, the new uniform).

Interestingly, another canine-coded character in this series, Rudo, has dog symbolism instead of wolf.

Cerberus in Greek mythology is explicitly described as the guard dog of the Underworld. You could read it as domesticated dog. Rudo lived his whole life in an urban area (with literal fences keeping him out of the more respectable part of the Sphere) before he got thrown to the Ground. Compared to him Follo experienced a greater degree of freedom. Does this mean Follo is actually more feral than Rudo XD

(Fu’s toy Jinki looks like to be a werewolf, but until we learn more about him I won’t draw any conclusions just yet.)

Follo spend the entire chapter looking bloodied. I am worried for his wounds but there is no doubt in my mind that he’ll live. Instead I want to draw attention to this one detail. The blood running down his face feels like baptism to me. This is the day Follo is born anew as a Giver.

I look forward to hear what Follo will name his Jinki.

The Kingdom of Life

This is an idea that has been brewing in my mind for a while and was confirmed in my head when I looked at the map of the western continent (o_ _)ﾉ彡

You see this, the desert of death and the Kingdom of Askosan are the same size, that means that there is nothing stopping the City of Life from becoming the Kingdom of Life ヽ(・∀・)ﾉ

It has already been confirmed to us in history that attempts have been made to create new cities in the Desert of Death, so it is not crazy to think that if more had been created, it would end up becoming a Kingdom with its own culture.

What's more, in chapter 316 we are told that only a necromancer will be the new king/queen of death because they are the ones who know the most about the pain that darkness can cause and still handle it ╰(▔∀▔)╯

Not only that, the Night's Exultation is a gem that belonged to the Queen of Death and gives us a great clue about what could be the main jewel of a crown or jewel that marks royalty ヽ(；▽；)ノ

Now that I've explained the reason why I came up with this AU, here are my ideas for it:

The divergence began when the Queen of Death founded the City of Life and appointed a family of dark elves to run it when she I couldn't do it anymore.

She designated this family with a magical huadian that would mark who is worthy to rule, so if one day the family were corrupted their right to rule would be eliminated and assigned to some other family that was worthy.

After the final battle againts the Queen of Death and the Church of the God of Sun it became common knowledge that the next King/Queen of Death would only be a necromancer and the most loyal dark elves built a palace in the capital which was sealed only to be opened when their next King arrived.

The ruling family began to rule and was recognized as an archduchy (The highest rank of nobility below royalty) and a branch of the royal family.

With the construction of more underground cities and towns, an aristocracy began to be created that will govern their respective territories, making sure to remain firm in the principles of always being faithful to their people and helping them in every way possible.

When humans began to escape from Dubori territory to the Desert of Death they were welcomed as citizens of the Kingdom of Life.

With each generation the population continued to increase in both humans, half-breeds and dark elves which caused the kingdom to grow and prosper while the culture developed obtaining things such as harem pants, the wearing of veils on the face and hair and hena tattoos

The archducal family remained faithful to the first queen and for generations humans and dark elves mixed, causing that although the most recent generation (Obante and his offspring) were mostly dark elves the percentage will vary.

At some point, Alberu's mother decided to travel the Continent and ended up as King Zed Crossman's concubine, but since they both fell in love, she did not care much about her new position.

Tasha didn't like this very much but accepted it until she found out that her sister was pregnant and immediately went to help her by disguising herself as a maid.

From here everything goes as canon until during a return visit to her native home Tasha ends up rescuing Mary who became a necromancer, the first in centuries.

During Mary's recovery in the capital's hospital someone leaked the information that the future Queen of Death had been born, and the entire Kingdom began to celebrate the arrival of the future Queen.

Due to the social pressure of taking the throne in the future when she is only 10 years old Mary felt overwhelmed and asked Tasha to stay with her.

Tasha accepted and during the time she took a break she and Mary formed a mother-daughter bond which was solidified when Tasha asked Mary if she could adopt her by blood.

Mary accepted and once the ritual was completed she became a dark elf half-blood, maintaining her status as a necromancer.

His web scars turned white due to the concentration of dead mana and he obtained the huadian of the archducal family in the same color.

I imagine that from here things would go as in canon with the exception that Mary would get lessons in etiquette and politics while she travels throughout the Kingdom of Life to meet her future subjects.

Another Internet Whitepaper

I'm just gonna get into there is no way to preface this.

1) content should be hosted in their own countries for which they are meant.

2) therefore the website should split into Nation->Sub-nation sections. So things for Michigan would be closer to those in Michigan. With U.S.->Michigan.

--"independent" Nations are just gonna have to deal with being lumped together into a united region. It's simply physics.

--country wide servers and clouds, and worldwide services will still be available; but we need to develop protocols to make it easier to distribute data and declutter the internet-cloud.

3) a separate Intranet for official use and security will need to be developed alongside this while also being completely disconnected from the worldwideweb.

4) Splits;

IP Addresses redesign;

[Country/Region]:[State/Province]:[individual]

[Individual] will need to be controlled by local The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) branches; likely to be reassigned to DMVs and SoSs.

5) Separate protocols For;

Streaming Services

Social Media Services

Bidirectional Interactions (like games and Virtual Machines)

Pornography needs to be completely identifiable by textual Web address.

5) you local region will be defaulted, but can be changed by the browser and not be hard-wired in.

Not indicating a region will automatically default to the local internet.

So typing in FBI.GOV in the U.S. will lead to the FBI website, and if you type it in the UK it'll lead to Mi:5 or something.

6) Social Media protocols will have to be integrated with the E-Mail SMTP protocols. Which will encourage a more decentralized internet. This will *also* have to find a way to work with phone text messages.

7) Cable TV and Streaming services will have to use the same protocols.

8) Because there's phone integration here; a phone number may have to be closer to a social security number going forward. Which will both be bad for animosity, but allow for people to not need login information.

-- This will technically also need to apply to your House; which will have to have an assigned street address.

9) all of these need to be obfuscated to casual observers.

10) this will deprecate our phone companies and require them to work with cable TV and internet companies in order to create more equitable protocols.

11) the current IP address and Domain Registry systems need to be deprecated; as it does not suit its original purpose.

[.xxx] will be assigned for all "adult" materials and be required for ALL "adult materials" posted online.

[.app] will be assigned for appstores.

[.store] for marketplaces like Amazon, eBay, and whatever else.

[.bank] will be for banking and credit purposes

[.social] will be for social media

[.stream] will be for streaming materials,

[.np] for non-profit use only.

[.donation] for donation collections and Kickstarter like services.

[.pay] for payment services like PayPal

Non "adult materials" can be streamed through other "front ends" .

13) These human readable extensions will be simplified on the backend to reduce the total data envelope size.

14) single digit ip-adresses will have to be regulated for use for high-capacity uses. These will need to be "extended" protocols that different services can use.

This will help even out everybody's data envelopes. This will have to be part of a cloud service that can be used by anybody that needs it. With certain restrictions that are deemed necessary by local and federal governments and international treaty reasons.

15) limits on how algorithms and "bots" can ping anything at one time need to be addressed or regulated.

This will be a massive undertaking with the cooperation of all the other governments around the world.

And will be a very lucrative endeavor at the end of it all.

This is just an outline to describe the form the future internet should take and can be changed or modified as required; especially for things I cannot see.

The current corporations will be expected to develop a plan of actions in tandem with current regulatory authorities; failure to do so will create a need for an ultimatum, which we all wish to avoid.

We're also going to need to find ways to encourage competition in these sectors so that they can be upgraded and modified as needed by local areas instead of waiting on these companies to bother with it.

Okay so I've seen megatron x pet!reader, and i have been wondering how they would get tampons and stuff like that for the female readers

Ah, I was wondering when that question would appear in my inbox lol. 

To start with, it would be very difficult to explain to Megatron what the human!reader needs when it becomes shark-week. At first, Megatron would be incredibly dismissive of their needs/attempts at explaining what their body is currently undergoing; he isn't up to date on human anatomy or their bodily processes, only knowing the bare-bones, but to him, that basic knowledge is enough. You're not dying? Then it isn't important to him. Only… it starts to develop into something quite important when his human pet begins to complain frequently about cramps, unable to move and perform their entertainment acts while being god awfully moody… is that blood coming from their private area? … That is foul.

Quick side note, Megatron isn't exactly disturbed or put-off by the blood? It's hard to explain; like, it bothers him but at the same time not, but it's organic blood, and that is just disgusting, so I'm not too sure. :p

Anyway, he would start to take their needs a little more seriously. First order of business is assigning a Decepticon to clean up the human!reader because Megatron will be damned if his pet sets one foot in his habsuite filthy and stuck in rancid smelling clothing. Secondly, he'll have Soundwave do all the research about this "period" his pet had mentioned to him before (that he tuned out) and to see if it's something that could be cured - he's immensely disappointed and downright irritated that no, it's not something that can be cured and only treated as it's the standard cycle for female humans. Likely Megatron will turn to Shockwave to resolve this issue… can't guarantee his pet will remain human, but it's the preferable alternative in his optics.

Until then, he'll dispatch some Decepticons to fetch what is required to help the human!reader tolerate shark-week according to the world wide web. The Decepticons aren't enthusiastic about being sent into human society simply to pick up some items for Megatron's human pet, especially since the ones dispatched are quite xenophobic (is that the right word?), but they can't exactly complain when Soundwave is tuning in to every word they dare mutter. So, begrudgingly, they rob the nearest store that has what they need in stock. 

Try telling the Autobots and N.E.S.T that a squad of Decepticons raided a store and left with the entire collection of tampons, heating pads, painkillers, and whatever else they had fumbling in their arms. (Side note, Megatron is a little pissed off when he finds out that there's more to tampons and heating pads than meets the eye and he has to find the right ones in order for his human pet to stop being a disobedient, noisy bloodhound.)

With every item on the checklist acquired, Megatron would let his pet figure out everything. He's too busy to be wasting his time on such mundane activities; hopefully the human!reader can manage and organize all of the pieces of their care package while they're trapped in crippling agony.

And before I end this off, I can't state this enough that don't take this as Megatron actually "caring" for the human!reader. It's sort of like when a little kid won't stop crying so you'll end up getting them something to hush them up - and the fact that Megatron hates that his human pet is experiencing tremendous suffering but it isn't him causing said suffering. >:( He'll heal up the human or cure them of whatever plagues their body, but he'll go right back to torturing and throwing them helplessly on the display stage the moment they show signs of recovery. What a control freak.
